What is Vector Art?

The two types of image files are Raster and Vector.

Raster files are file that end in:

• .bmp
• .gif
• .jpg

These are files copied from a website, scanned, or from a digital camera.

We cannot use this type of file so skip the idea you had of finding it on the internet unless you can find vector art on a site like Brandsoftheworld.com.

Raster files would print blurry and have artifacts (bad pixels), so even if we did you them the quality would be horrible.

Vector files are files that end with:

• .eps
• .ai
• .cdr
• and sometimes .pdf

These are files that cannot be opened or viewed without special software.

Vector art is used in making quality stationary and signage.

A vector image can be scaled up to any site and will look perfectly crisp not blurry.

Important!

Photoshop has the ability to save files as .eps, .ai, and .pdf.  Theses are NOT vector files.

Files exported or saved from photoshop are not vector images.

So basically, please dont send us logos copied from a website that have been “exported” or “saved as” .eps, .ai, or .pdf, from photoshop.
